Who? - KIK
==================================[Temporary]==========================================================
If we ever get organized, my hope is that each individual would put together a SELF-description. Its goal would be to provide for others information (directly "from the horse's mouth") that might help them to interpret your comments, to understand from where some conclusion came, or how it could be incorporated into explanations of what seems to be the promise, or lack of same, for a "buy/sell". My best guess for me, for the moment, is below. (Makes for an interesting walk through those "cobwebs in the backroads of your mind". Try it.) ====================================================================================================
EDUCATION: WORK: Insurance (actuarial, esp. charting, and lib.research) Taught 4,6,7-8 (sci.math.), HS (math.), Rutgers faculty, gov. panels (ad nauseum), research trace elements/nutrients, freshwater systems, some marine/coastal, some biochem., env.sci (esp. Env.Sci.101 !!), little industrial, no military, no sales
AVOCATION: Sketching, computer (presentation, graphics, construction), critters, gardening, stock picking
OFFBEAT HABITS (might be the most meaningful for our circumstances): My most useful contribution might be via TIVO/TV. I have the time and equipment to RECORD at least 6 simultaneous broadcasts. I record Bloomberg (dull, minimum agenda), CNBC (more entertaining, a bit of a pro-business, pro-financials agenda), and dozens of misc. news programs (PBS, CNN).
I do not watch (could not fit it into a day!!). I filter. Fast-forward is a joy. Dozens of talking heads, often very influential in the world of government, business and, or, economics, from current gov., the most influential companies and, or, university programs (lots of Nobel Prizes - Yale, Harvard, Wharton, Chicago Bus., NYU Bus.), show up! Usually, they are either a) pushing an agenda, or b) invited to counter somebody else's agenda. Point is - the topics covered on these programs are legitimate in terms of CURRENT investing possibilities, and I doubt there is any other way to pick up this sort of info. the incredibly conflicting "facts" are worth their weight in gold. While not always initially obvious, after a few loops, the nonsense is usually really easy to spot. The truth - less easy. (Some of the "loftiest" voices assure us that the earth is flat??)
The meaningless volatility that dominates the current markets is often couched on this over stuffed stream of info and "data". If I can capture both sides (all five sides??) of an argument, it is often easy to sort reality from wishful thinking, ignorance, or flat out lying. I really think that this might be my most useful contribution. Years in research, trying to figure out what I wish were the answer ---as opposed to what the answer is---produced well-honed skills regarding the distinctions between precision and accuracy, and/or lies, wishes, reality and ignorance and stupidity. (I cogitate, guess, and then, hope I'm right.)
