Hunterdon County, New Jersey

Through the years I have noticed that many people make wise cracks about New Jersey. Usually something referring to the sights they have seen along the New Jersey Turnpike. It would be foolish to argue that the extensive land fills, or the refineries are aesthetically appealing. But, those who actually think that is what New Jersey is really like, need a bit of an education. That is one, disappointing, but small part of our landscape. Allow me to introduce another part, one of the places that is delightful to visit, and to see. A part in which I am most happy to live - Hunterdon County.

One of the most unusual sights unique to Hunterdon must surely be the hot air balloons. There are a remarkable number permanently based here. Every once in a while one flies so low over our house that we can exchange shouted, "Hellos" from our nice, down-to-earth, deck to those rugged folks riding in the basket. There are several balloon festivals each year and visitors are welcomed most cordially. If you have the courage, you can actually take a ride!
Round Valley Reservoir provides boating and fishing opportunities.

But, mostly it is a great place for a walk and a daydream.

If you ever require cheering up, you need only visit a Jack Russell "Meet".

Their races are more fun to watch than a circus. Of course, as with all endeavors of JR's, they take it very seriously.
You can hop a train to the city,

but, mostly we favor cars.

Essentially, Hunterdon is just a lovely place to see.
